EDWARD P. MILLER [Barton]05/25/2013 10:11 PM BARTON  — Edward Paul Miller, 88, of Dogwood Flat, Barton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013, while resting peacefully at his home.Born March 1, 1925, in Barton, he was the son of the late Edward and M. Della (O’Neil) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth; brothers, Calvin, Norman and Raymond and a sister, Mary Catherine.Mr. Miller retired in 1988 from Westvaco’s Luke Paper Mill after 45 years of dedicated service. Paul was a long time member of Barton Presbyterian Church with over 65 years of membership. He served with the Barton Hose Company for over 50 years. In 1987, he was admitted into the Allegany-Garrett County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Hall of Flame. He was awarded Barton Hose Company’s Fireman of the Year Award and Presidents Service Award several years. Paul was always unselfishly ready to help his family and community. Paul also served with the Barton Odd Fellows Association for over 50 years.He leaves behind a son, Harry Miller and wife Theresa; brothers, David Lee Miller and wife Wilma and Jim Miller, and a sister, Shirley Bosley. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Charles Edward and wife Gabriel, Phillip Jason and wife Heather, Christopher David and Diana Joy Miller, Linda Lee (Stakem) Ellenwood and husband Jeffrey and Catherine Marie (Stakem) Aswegan; eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the Boal Chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating.Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Barton Presbyterian Church or the Barton Hose Company.Condolences may be sent to the family atboalfh.com.

Eng.-Rescue 192 arrived to find a vehicle in the middle of the roadway with no one found in or around the vehicle.  Crews searched the area using lights and T.I.C.  It appears that a person(s) jumped on the vehicle after the crash knocking out the tail lights, caving in the roof and breaking the rear window.

Barton Fire Eng.-Tanker 191 with Eng. Rescue 192 responded to Russell Rd. in Garrett County Box 193 for a working vehicle fire.  Units arrived to find a fully involved truck fire with no one around the vehicle.  It appeared that the vehicle may have been crashed at the location.  MSP Garrett County is investigating the incident.
