On 8-02-2014 at approx. 0920 hours Barton Fire and mutual aid companies were alerted for the reported structure fire. The reported location was in the area of Mill Run Rd. and Lower George’s Creek Rd. Box 19-05. That area was quickly checked and nothing located. The units then traveled west on Mill Run Rd. towards Aaron’s Run Rd., Garrett County Box 19-10. The building fire was located in the 2100 blocked of Aaron’s Run. The fire was in a cinder block foundation/wood frame single family home off Aaron’s Run approx. 500’ in the wooded area. The fire was well involved in the living section of the home. The working alarm and a second alarm with 3 additional tankers was requested. The initial attack was defensive due to the amount of heavy fire and lack of water (non-hydrant area). ET-191 laid one 5” supply line from Aaron’s Run into the scene. Crews from 191 pulled two 1-3/4 lines and began the attack but, needed to protect propane or acetylene tanks on side C – B corner. Due to the intense heat from the rapidly moving fire one 1-1/2 line was pulled for the cooling of ET-191. ET-223 was positioned beside 191 and one 3″ line was pulled to side D and reduced to the 1-3/4. ET-191 supplied ET-223 with one 5″ line. Water supply was established on Aaron’s Run Rd. and a fill location for tankers on Mill Run Rd. near the church near Lo Hi Drive. The wood frame section of the home was a complete loss, but the basement area was held saving some of the home owner’s property.
